Adele Performs “When We Were Young” From Her New Album

I’ve always been a fan of Adele’s. Surrounded by a music scene full of electronic music, Adele’s raw voice along side a real band is always a refreshing listen. This stands true for this live track she lays down, where she kills it. It’s nice to see music like this stills gets attention.

Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road. Wow. George Miller knows the true art to a good action movie.

Quality over quantity. Show don’t tell. He has compiled strong characters out of an A-list cast, performing a straightforward plot, and after that it’s all go go go. With a high frame rate, staccato feel to the movement, there is a chaotic, surreal 80’s feel to the film that makes me feel like I’m witnessing old school “other-world” imagination. I don’t have a negative thing to say about this film. Is it the best film ever? Of course not, but everything it wants to accomplish it does so with success.

Samuel Proffitt EP Release; “Blue Notebook No. 10”

Last week, Sam Driver, from the duo PRFFTT & Svyable, released his first EP under his solo title “Samuel Proffitt”. You can listen here:

The EP, Blue Notebook No. 10, does not disappoint. Sam’s ability to bring the ethereal and relatable together make for some emotional tracks that will also make you feel like a badass while you blare it into the night air through open car windows. He brings in some amazing talent to include some incredibly smooth vocals. The instrumentation is melodic, sultry, subtle, and highlights his skills as a composer.

But where Sam shines is his lyrics. Every word of his writing is audible throughout each track, showing he’s not trying to hide crummy lyrics under overwhelming bass tracks. Through each verse and chorus, Sam bares his heart through honest poetry and a willingness to be vulnerable through his music. Like the best artists, you can hear in every track that he writes music for himself first and his listeners second, and not vice versa.

My personal favorite is the ending track, “In Flames”. True artistry shines with haunting beauty in this melancholy song. Major props to Crywolf, whose vocals give me chills every time without fail.

I’ve known Sam personally for years now, and am myself blown away as to what he’s accomplished with this EP. It was worth every ounce of hype I had for it and I hope you all feel the same.
